We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Tooling Engineer to join our innovative team at Agilent Technologies. As the Sustaining Engineer for Tooling, you will take charge of the management of our company-owned tools, which encompass approximately 50 molds utilized in injection and blow molding processes for various plastic components. These molds are strategically located at vendor sites, playing a pivotal role in ensuring an uninterrupted supply of raw materials for a critical product line. Alongside this, you will be a central figure in providing crucial support for NCR/SCAR/Quality initiatives, offering engineering troubleshooting expertise, overseeing specifications and drawings, meticulously reviewing tool validation protocols and reports, and conducting comprehensive tool health analyses to guide refurbishment, retirement, and replacement decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Tooling Management: Provide technical support and oversight for company-owned tools, consisting of molds utilized in the injection molding process for components for a major product line. These tools are stationed at vendor sites, and your role will involve coordinating with vendors to ensure their optimal functioning and availability.

  • Raw Material Supply Assurance: Collaborate closely with vendors and cross-functional teams to safeguard a consistent supply of raw materials that are essential for the successful production of our key product line.

  • NCR/SCAR/Quality Support: Play a critical role in managing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs). Work closely with the Quality and engineering teams to thoroughly investigate issues, pinpoint root causes, and lead the implementation of corrective actions that uphold product quality and regulatory compliance.

  • Engineering Troubleshooting: Utilize your technical acumen to troubleshoot and resolve raw material quality issues related to molding processes.

  • Specifications and Drawings Oversight: Maintain accurate and current documentation of specifications, drawings, 3D models, and other vital technical documents of molded components. Ensure that all documentation adheres to internal and external quality standards.

  • Tool Validation Review: Thoroughly review tool validation protocols and reports to verify compliance with established standards and specifications.

  • Tool Health Analysis: Regularly evaluate the condition of tools used in production and stationed at vendor sites. Based on factors such as wear and tear, performance, and efficiency, work with vendors to determine whether tools require refurbishment, retirement, or replacement.

Qualifications
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • 4+ years of experience with injection molding processes and tooling design.

  • Experience w/injecting molding of PP, HDPE, EPDM and Silicone highly desired.

  • SolidWorks or other CAD software experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in ensuring that all solutions are in compliance with relevant quality regulations such as FDA and ISO preferred.

  • Experience in validating injected molded parts.

  • Ability to travel to vendor sites (US).

The US pay range for this full-time position is $98,448.00 - $153,825.00/yr, plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
