JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Intern to join our team for the summer months. The Laboratory Intern will assist our lab personnel in various tasks related to sample preparation, analysis, and data entry. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals pursuing a career in environmental science, chemistry, or related fields to gain hands-on experience in a professional laboratory setting within the water utility industry.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist lab personnel with preparing sample kits for laboratory clients according to established procedures and guidelines.
  • Aid in receiving and shipping sample kits, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
  • Assist in gathering and preparing samples for analysis, following safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform general laboratory tests under the supervision of experienced laboratory personnel, maintaining proper documentation of procedures and results.
  • Support laboratory operations by entering analysis data into the laboratory information system accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory workspaces, equipment, and supplies.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working in the laboratory environment.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience/Skills/Abilities:

  • Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a college or university program in environmental science, chemistry, biology, or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including data entry and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Prior laboratory experience or coursework in chemistry, environmental science, or related disciplines is preferred but not required.

This is a temporary position lasting from June to August, with a schedule of 30 hours per week. The exact start and end dates may be flexible based on the candidate's availability.
