Overview

Join our team of talented and passionate engineers and help build ArcGIS API for Python, a comprehensive Pythonic API for ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online. With ArcGIS API for Python, GIS analysts, data scientists, machine learning engineers, and GIS administrators accomplish a wide variety of tasks ranging from geospatial deep learning, performing spatial analysis to manage their web GIS, and automate such workflows.

As a senior product engineer, you will collaborate with product engineers, development engineers and product managers to help us design, build, and deliver a compelling Pythonic API for ArcGIS. You will provide a strong technical voice in the product development process and use the best tools available to build highly reliable, sustained, and evolutionary API.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product engineers, software developers, and product managers to design, build, and deliver capabilities in ArcGIS API for Python
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and incorporate them into the software
  • Develop and implement test plans and test cases, write test code, verify code changes, and bug fixes
  • Review and analyze automated test results, report status on software quality and stability, certify software quality
  • Troubleshoot and triage issues reported by customers
  • Author API documentation in the form of guides for Python developers
  • Share workflows in help topics, blog articles, presentations, tutorials, and samples

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience working in a software development environment
  • 3+ years experience in applying Python towards GIS analysis, data science or GIS administration workflows
  • 2+ years experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro or other geospatial technology
  • Excellent problem-solving, design, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A passion for software product quality and documentation
  • Bachelor's in computer science, GIS or related disciplines

Recommended Qualifications

  • Master's in computer science, GIS or related disciplines
  • Experience with ArcGIS API for Python and/or ArcPy
  • Experience with architecting test frameworks, testing patterns, unit test libraries and writing automated tests
  • Effective project management, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to build and deliver quality software in a team environment

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is
$89,440$147,680 USD
